Carbon Cohort 2025

Design a solution that enables us to share unaltered truth with the world in a credible and clear manner.

We live in the Post-Truth Era, where people don’t ask, “Is this true?” They ask, “Does this align with my aesthetic?”

In today’s world, truth has stopped acting like truth. It behaves more like a mood. A vibe. A personal preference like choosing between oat milk and almond milk, except now it’s choosing between facts and whatever feels emotionally convenient.

Truth has become a Currency.

People trade it, hoard it, distort it, and sometimes print their own versions. And just like real currency, some forms of truth hold their value,  while others inflate wildly because an influencer said so. So we imagined a world where truth literally becomes money.

Introducing Truth Notes: a speculative system where every verified fact becomes a literal banknote. Each note has a denomination based on evidence strength, security features like watermarks and microtext, and a QR code for full context since context is usually the first casualty of the internet.

The project works as a satire of our current media landscape. If misinformation spreads faster than money, why not design a truth currency that can’t be counterfeited?  “Truth Notes” highlights how fragile our relationship with reality has become, and how much work it now takes to trust something as simple as a fact.

The Truth Note is intentionally fragmented layered shapes for layered realities, pixels for digital distortion, and misaligned grids for conflicting narratives.

The clean text bar and QR code act as islands of clarity, showing how truth now requires active verification. The design visualises a simple idea: in the chaos of today’s information noise, even truth needs security features.

Ideations

If truth is up for sale, shouldn’t we at least give it a proper banknote?

By turning truth into something you can hold, literally, physically hold the project asks a playful but pointed question.
